Ship Shape Deck Restoration & Wash

OUR STORY

A Legacy of Precision and Care

Giancarlo and Gianfranco Mahalik — Ship Shape founders

Franco and Carlo's journey as founders of Ship Shape began far from the decks and porches of Charleston. Trained as Marine Engineers and forged by their years sailing aboard merchant ships, the twin brothers learned early that safety and longevity at sea depend on rigorous systems, strict attention to detail, and relentless proactive maintenance.

They saw firsthand that neglect in a harsh, unpredictable environment leads to costly setbacks and lasting damage — lessons that became even more critical after settling in Charleston, where salt air, sun, and coastal storms relentlessly attack wood.

Our Guiding Principle

“Deliver results that last, not quick fixes.”

With nearly a decade spent maintaining complex maritime systems, Franco and Carlo brought their disciplined approach to property care, translating maritime best practices into every aspect of wood restoration on land.

Each project is approached like maintaining a seaworthy vessel — preparation is thorough, processes are methodically followed, and every finished surface meets the highest standard of craftsmanship.

THE RESULT

Surfaces Built to Last

Every project leaves behind a surface that looks better, lasts longer, and protects your investment for years to come.
